I just returned from the Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary in Milwaukee, WI. I got to ride (all Anniversary Editions - 2003) an 833cc Sportster Custom, a Dyna Wide Glide and a Heritage Soft Tail. All, except the Sportster which couldn't get out of its own way, were decent bikes. When I returned home I kissed the bride and got on my 1800 VTX Retro for a fresh comparison. There is none. The VTX is by far the most comfortable and fastest. It combines all the great qualities of the Harleys I rode into one bike. I like Harleys but they're just not worth the extra 10 large and the motor, at 1450cc's Vs 1800cc's, is ridiculously underpowered, especially for two people.
What do I not like about the VTX 1800 Retro? The gosh-awful, looks killing license plate holder and reflector set- up. Absolutely, abysmal. My dealer came up with a great looking fix and now the chrome plate light and chrome plate holder are one beautiful piece. No more obtrusive black crap!
